- IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD:
- You won’t get the best from God without Covenant.
- Covenant is making commitment to God.
- Covenant makes God take you seriously. Job made a covenant with his eyes not to look lustfully at a Lady in Job 31:1. Job’s commitment yielded a lot of increase in his life.
- God hates casual commitment: it is causality that makes God unserious with people.
- Covenant is Commitment and should be written down on paper for the purpose of reference.
- God can’t trust someone who can’t be committed to his words.
- MARRIAGE COVENANT:
- Don’t build your relationship on emotions; what sustains marriage is not love (emotions) but commitment.
- Sex alone can’t keep a marriage; Lack of self control as a single will definitely lead to infidelity in marriage. (If you can’t control yourself as a single, you can’t control yourself when married).
- God is looking for remnants that will show what Christian marriage is all about.
- A woman should submit to her husband like she submits to the Lord.
- A woman can influence her husband but shouldn’t challenge his authority.
- Husband decide to love your wife unto the end (John 13:1).
- Peace in marriage is very essential; couples should always pursue peace with each other. Heb. 12:14
- In covenant, all the walls of partition are broken for two to become one.
- A husband’s words should evoke the beauty in his wife; Stop comparing your spouse to another.
- Don’t be harsh towards her, be sensitive to her needs. Col. 3:19
- COVENANT IN CHURCH:
- Psalm 68:6 states that God gives family to the lonely.
- When Satan wants to destroy a man, he first provides him with reasons to stay isolated; Heb. 10:25.
- You must relate with your brethren as those you have covenant with.
- What you sow in the life of a covenant brother or sister is what God will reward you with.
- 1 Cor. 11:29-30 speaks of God’s judgement on anyone who takes the Holy Communion without honouring the body of Christ.
- Just as the human body has many parts, the body of Christ is made up of many parts (1 Cor. 12:12-26).
- It is anti-covenant to celebrate the downfall of a Brother/Sister in Church.
- If you remain alone, no one will stand with you in your day of adversity.
