In the beginning it was not so…
T.D. Jakes was a preaching machine, screaming at the top of his voice, But his membership was less than 100 people.
Preaching powerful messages, without much visible impacts or results to show for it.
Undiscovered and unknown!
Until one time, he was invited by a man of God called Bishop Carlton Pearson who annually organizes a program yearly called Azusa and invites different ministers to commemorate Azusa street revival, that manifested in the early nineteenth century.
At the end of their messages, he would take that 15 minutes of that clip of each ministers ministration and put it on a Christian tv channel called TBN, this was to get across to the people who could not attend that night, so they could see it and be challenged to come the next night.
After Bishop T. D. Jakes ministered that night, he took 15 minutes of his excerpts of his message and put on TBN.
The late owner of TBN
(Paul Crouch) sat down in his living room, and this guy came up, Fifteen minutes the owner of TBN could not do anything, he was arrested.
He said, “ who is this guy?”….
And he called the Bishop person and said, “ Bishop! Who is that guy?”
He said, “ he’s one of our guest speakers”…He said, “ can you invite him to come to our studio and just preach for 10 or 15 minutes?”….
They invited him to come, And Americans were watching….
He started preaching….After 10 minutes, he said, “ as I’m about to round up”….The phone lines were busy… “ he must not round up!, let him continue”…..
From 15 minutes to 30 minutes,From 30 minutes to one hour…Everybody was spell bound…And they asked him, “ where is your church?”..
He said , “ it’s in one corner ”, at the backside of the mountains of Virginia, Then he said to Bishop TD Jakes, leave that place, relocate, come to the heart of America”..
The church were about 3 hundred people then, He relocated to Dallas and held the first program, over three thousand people attended.
And the former church members were asking, pastor jakes, are you leaving us here?
He told all of them to leave what they were doing and move with him.
Most of those three hundred people became the initial church workforce, protocols, Ushers, Musicians, counselors, prayer team, etc at his new church.
The POTTERS HOUSE CHURCH has grown to over 30 thousand people. It is now a signature of Gods move in America and around the world.
Bishop TD Jakes has written books and a Bestselling Author at it. He has Acted and Directed his own movies. He is a real estate tycoon, Philanthropist, Businessman and he sits on the board of many fortune five hundred and multimillion dollar companies. A personal friend to Presidents and politicians.
